Radley Cross Flowers

Our flowers are grown outside in a gently sloping south facing field protected from the wind by a hedge of sunflowers and Jerusalem Artichokes. Flower miles are a new concept but we should think about just how far some of our flowers travel currently to decorate our homes.

Statice

Statice is in the Limonium family of which there are some 150 varieties. We grow Limonium Sinuatum which has a lovely long stem, and is suitable as either a cut or dried flower. A lot of people associate statice with the colour purple but there are many other colours to choose from.

Apricot, dark blue, lavender, pale blue, rose, white , yellow, sunset

Scented Devon Pinks

These lovely pinks are the old fashioned scented variety which grow in beautiful soft colours. They are up to 18 inches long and flower from May through to September. A truly English cut flower.

Schitzostylis

Otherwise known as Kaffir Lily. These make a great late season cut flower with good lasting properties on a tall stem. They will flower right through until the first hard frost

Gypsophila 'Covent Garden'

Gypsophila provides a wonderful material for flower arranging with its sprays of small starry flowers above the tiny grey-green leaves.. Covent Garden is probably the best known of all the varieties and enhances any arrangement.

Larkspur

Larkspur is part of the Delphinium family, producing a tall upright stem of many double flowers. Grown in lovely subtle colours, it makes a great English cut flower.

Hydrangea Paniculata

We grow both the 'Limelight' and 'Vanille Fraise'. These are stunning, large, cone shaped flowers on long stems, grown on very hardy shrubs that tolerate even the most unpromising soils and aspect. The flowers start out in life as white and slowly mellow into the wonderful pale green of limelight and strawberry pinks of the vanille fraise. Wonderful for larger flower arrangements.
